Odor sends five American Airlines flight crew to hospital
Five American Airlines flight crew members, including the two pilots, were taken to hospital after complaints of a mystery odor.
Flight 1897 landed without incident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International but the five crew members were asked to be taken to hospital ‘as a precaution,’ the airline said.
They reported feeling dizzy and lightheaded.
One passenger waiting to board the next service back to Philadelphia said the stricken crew members were taken off the plane in wheelchairs.
None of the 137 passengers complained of any discomfort, American said.
"The aircraft is being evaluated by our maintenance team."
American said the odor was likely caused by the plane’s air conditioning unit.
