Ola rolls out ride-sharing in Sunshine Coast
India based ride sharing app Ola is expanding again in Australia.
Its eighth market in the country is Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast was picked for its robust tourism market and lack of ride sharing competition, the company says.
"After seeing a large number of requests to introduce our services in other parts of the country, we’ve chosen the Sunshine Coast as Ola’s first launch in a non-metro city in Australia. We are now present across eight cities in Australia," said Simon Smith, managing director of Ola Australia and New Zealand.
Australia was Ola’s first overseas market and now claims to have more than 40,000 drivers across Australia.
Since entering the market, Ola claims it has helped Queenslanders to save more than $5 million in fares.
Ola has marked the launch by offering new customers discounted rides and is also seeking more local drivers to join the platform.
