Olympics will hit premium traffic warns IAG
British Airways’ parent IAG is warning that its premium traffic will be impacted by the London 2012 Olympics.
Releasing its June figures, it said it expects to see some "near-term softness" in first and business class sales during the Games.
International Airlines Group, formed by the merger of British Airways and Iberia, reported a strong June but BA performed better than sister airline Iberia.
BA’s June traffic was up 11.3% compared to a 3.2% rise at Iberia.
Overall revenue passenger kilometres rose by 8.9% over June 2011, while passenger load factor was up 1.2 percentage points to 76.1%.
First and business-class travel rose 5.3%, while non-premium traffic was up 9.6%.
