One killed after New Zealand ski bus crash
A young woman was killed in New Zealand when a ski resort shuttle bus rolled over on a mountain road.
Another 20 of the 31 people on the bus needed medical attention, and several have serious injuries.
The Ruapehu Alpine Lifts shuttle bus rolled over on Ohakune Mountain Rd.
Police has launched an investigation in the cause of the crash.
There was no adverse weather at the time and the bus driver is highly experienced on the route.
"From our perspective the most important thing is to give the absolute support we can both to the staff and emergency services involved but also to the family," said Ross Copeland of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts.
Copeland said a full audit of the bus maintenance and safety records is being carried out.
"We’re stepping back through our maintenance records and making sure all of our equipment is up to scratch. The police and serious crash unit are working through a whole detailed process."
The Turoa ski field was closed Sunday while the shuttle bus fleet is inspected.
