Online bookers still want brochures

Sunday, 03 May, 2005 0

Self-dubbed “travel Google”, surf2travel.com, has launched its online brochure service as a separate website on the back of buoyant demand.

The website, www.onlinetravelbrochures.com, contains over 80,000 brochure pages from operators including Airtours, First Choice, Somak, Kuoni, and Thomas Cook.

It costs operators £50 to load each brochure on to the site.

The brochures can be viewed for free by consumers and agents who can search by operator, destination, category, resort or hotel. The site receives 300 unique visits per day according to its owners and the most popular brochures are mainstream offerings from companies such as First Choice, Thomson, Airtours and JMC.

According to the company, travel agents are increasingly using the website to offer their customers access to brochure content.

Despite the increasing confidence for booking holidays online, consumers still want to view a “tangible brochure page” said managing director of onlinetravelbrochures.com, Paul Green.
