Only in Queensland

We all know that daylight saving is a contentious issue and that those up north can’t quite come to grips with the concept.

After all, aside from playing havoc with timetables and conference call schedules, it also fades the curtains, upsets the cows and birds and makes kids of all ages not want to go to bed.

But now, it’s being blamed for Dan getting kicked off Australian Idol. Apparently the banana-benders were robbed of an hour’s worth of voting time, and as Dan is a Queenslander ( you have to say that loud and long) no less than Premier Peter Beattie has jumped into the fray.

“Look we were robbed. I mean Dan was robbed,” Mr Beattie told ABC radio.

“I’m asking Channel 10 to wake up to themselves to turn back the clock to Monday and give him a fair go.

He wasn’t alone though. “With only 27 votes determining the result, it must be asked: If Queensland had daylight saving, would Dan still be in the race to become the Australian Idol?” Liberal MP Michael Caltabiano told parliament.

“The logic of the answer would suggest yes.”

All of you up north, you’re paying for this….this is how your elected members spend their time.

Glad to see they’re concentrating on the big issues.
