Opodo bags ex-BA man
Opodo has made David Scowsill chief executive officer.
Mr Scowsill comes from Orange, where was managing director of the consumer division for the past year. Prior to that he had a long career in the aviation industry including a 13 year stint at British Airways in various customer service, sales and marketing roles. He later joined American Airlines as marketing director of European sales before returning to BA as regional general manager for Asia Pacific, and then director of Europe and Middle East.
He was also on the board of Hilton International in 1997 as senior vice-president sales, marketing and IT, and joined the Minit Group in 1999 as chief executive.
Mr Scowsill said: “I am pleased and excited to have the opportunity of working within the travel industry again. It is clear that Opodo is uniquely placed to deliver a superb online travel product to leisure and business consumers, as well as providing a low cost distribution service that will benefit the airline, hotel and car rental suppliers”.
He said his aim was for Opodo to reach its vision of becoming “the European travel agent of choice for customers and product providers”.
Scowsill will start at Opodo on Monday.
