Opodo launches charter flights
Opodo has started selling charter flights on its UK website. The online agent hopes the service will be popular with bargain hunters. UK country manager, Neil Mott said: “Beach destinations, especially in Spain and Portugal, are extremely popular with our customers and they are always on the look out for good deals.” Opodo is also launching charter flights on its German site, opodo.de. The flight inventory is supplied by Avro via an XML link. Charter destinations include Alicante, Malaga, Las Palmas, Ibiza, Palma, Mahon and Corfu. Opodo’s rivals, Online Travel Corporation already sells charter flights through its ownership of the website, bargainholidays.com. OTC is currently the subject of a £55 million bid by lastminute.com.
