Orbitz says new service enhances travel experience via technology
Orbitz Worldwide says its recently launched OrbitzTLC Traveler Update is another example of how it is focusing on enhancing the overall travel experience via laptops and mobile phones.
“This is a first of its kind travel technology service that is user-generated and enables travelers to share real-time information regarding what’s happening in and around the nation’s top airports,” says Orbitz.
Content at the site includes:
- Real-time user-generated travel condition alerts that includes security lines; traffic near airports; taxi wait lines; check-in lines; restaurant reviews; quiet spots to work.
- FAA airport status and flight status.
- 30-day average security wait times from the Transportation Security Administration.
- Real-time weather conditions.
- Real-time traffic conditions.
Travelers can also access the information for free via the Internet or mobile device such as a cellphone or pda (mobile.orbitz.com).
“OrbitzTLC Traveler Update sprang from our customer insight that people value information from others in the same situation and our business insight that, at any point in time, Orbitz has thousands of customers moving through major airports and travel destinations,” said Randy Wagner, chief marketing officer of Orbitz Worldwide.
