Orbitz, Worldspan feud heats up
Orbitz and Worldspan have traded $50 million lawsuits in a Chicago court.
Orbitz charged Worldspan with violating the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.
Worldspan, in turn, filed a suit charging Orbitz with violating the Federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
The two suits stem mainly from Orbitz’s Supplier Direct bookings, which are made by a direct link to an airline’s system.
Worldspan charges Orbitz with violating its contract to use GDS exclusively. The company in its suit says:
“Contrary to the myth perpetuated by its public statements, Orbitz has not and does not directly perform the services traditionally provided by CRS’s.”
