Orlando religious theme park to screen controversial movie
Orlando’s Holy Land Experience theme park is putting on free screenings of Mel Gibson’s controversial religious biopic ‘The Passion of the Christ’ during the holiday weekend.
Screening are scheduled at the park’s Church of All Nations on Good Friday April 18 at 6 pm, Saturday at 6 pm and 9pm, and Easter Sunday at 3 pm.
The film has divided critics and religious scholars ever since its release a decade ago and will be shown uncut on a 60-feet high definition screen.
"The film has been embraced by believers the world over for its realistic and moving portrayal of Jesus’ suffering and death and we are thrilled to once again share this powerful movie with our many friends and guests," said Holy Land Experience general manager Mike Everett.
The park is offering free entrance and parking with 2,000 seats on a first-come-first-served basis.
Holy Land Experience is owned by Trinity Broadcasting Network and offers immersive and educational re-creations of ancient Israel and biblical stories through theatrical presentations.
