Orlando tourism workers need big pay hike to survive, union says
Tourism workers in central Florida’s are calling for a 20% hike on their minimum wage to at least $18 an hour
They say rising costs are making it difficult to make ends meet.
The Unite Here Local 737 union are negotiating new contracts for workers at the area’s biggest employer Walt Disney World.
The union is seeking an $18 an hour minimum wage for all service workers.
The $15 an hour deal agreed in 2018 is now outdated due to ‘skyrocketing rent, food, and gas prices’ the union says.
