Claiming to having been very busy since his appointment a couple of months ago, incoming General Manager Australia for Air New Zealand, John Harrison was officially revealed to industry leaders last night at a function at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel.

Insisting that he had not been hiding, John told Air New Zealand’s major suppliers and partners that he was looking forward to exploring the challenges that the future presented to the airline in Australia and that he was fortunate to be working from a very strong base indeed provided by outgoing GM Michael Reed, who recently left Air New Zealand, joining Jestet Travelworld as CEO.

John added, “New routes, new aircraft and resolving staffing issues in Australia are all areas that are helping strengthen Air New Zealand’s position to be even more competitive and successful in the future.

John comes to the post in Australia with an excellent airline pedigree and a slight Tennessee accent, his birthplace, having also worked for a range of airlines including American Airlines, Northwest, KLM and most recently of course Air New Zealand in New Zealand.

The Mole wishes John well in his new role and also Michael in his!
