Over-50s web guide to getting better holiday deals
A guide to the internet for over-50s has been compiled by cooptravelshop.co.uk to help them learn to use the medium to search for the best deals.
The online retailer has taken the initiative following statistics from the Office for National Statistics which showed that those in the 50-64 age group spend almost double on package holidays than those under 30.
But United Co-op Travel Group online arm believes the over-50s are not using the internet to its full potential.
The guide includes how to research and buy holidays online, making sure breaks are fully protected, a glossary of internet terms and techniques on safe shopping online.
The group’s web division general manager Daniel Forster said: “Much of this high spend points to their higher disposable income, but my concern is that although they are becoming more web savvy, they are not using the internet to its full potential.
“There are lots of excellent package holiday deals available online and I believe that the industry has a role to play in helping people educate people on how to make better use of the internet when buying holidays online.”
