Pacific Blue impacts Air Pacific in Fiji
A report in the Fiji Times says that since Pacific Blue’s entry into Fiji the total number of passengers flown between Australia and Fiji have grown by around three per cent, says Air Pacific chief, John Campbell.
Pacific Blue added 23 per cent more capacity onto the Australia – Fiji routes than previously existed and now holds 25 per cent share of the total traffic between the countries.
”Given the lack of growth in the total market it follows that Virgin’s tactics of using price to remove market share have been effective and Air Pacific has been impacted as a consequence of this,” Mr Campbell said of Pacific Blue’s operations in the Pacific.
Virgin Blue recently announced profits of its Samoa operations in Polynesian Blue and its domestic flights within New Zealand.
