Pacific Links Hawaii selling Oahu’s Kapolei Golf Club
Golf course management firm Pacific Links Hawaii is selling Kapolei Golf Club in West Oahu to an unnamed buyer which is expected to be finalized in late March.
The prospective new owner has not been announced publically but is thought to by Japanese, according to a Pacific Business News report.
"Kapolei Golf Club will maintain business as usual throughout this transaction," said Pacific Links Hawaii COO Micah Kane.
"Pacific Links Hawaii’s commitment to enhance the quality of golf in Hawaii is unwavering. It continues to own or operate two golf courses in Makaha Valley as well as Olomana Golf Links in Waimanalo and Royal Hawaiian Golf Club in Kailua."
The 18-hole, 7,001-yard golf course was acquired by Pacific Links from Japanese investors about five years ago.
The Ted Robinson-designed Kapolei Golf Club opened 20 years ago and is considered one of the most challenging on Oahu.
The course was host for the LPGA’s Hawaiian Ladies Open until 2001 and the PGA Champions Tour golf tournament for the last three years.
Last year’s PGA Champions event attracted 1,550 room nights and a $10 million economic impact to Hawaii, according to Hawaii Tourism Authority data.
This year’s PGA Champions event has been moved to China in a bid to grow golf membership and boost golf tourism in Asia, Pacific Links recently said.
Pacific Links owns and operates 10 golf courses in Hawaii, the US and China.
