Park Hotels to grow in China, Japan

SINGAPORE – Singapore-based, Hong Kong family-owned hospitality group Park Hotels is pursuing an aggressive expansion strategy which will see the brand gain extra prominence in China and Japan.

Park has plans to acquire up to 12 hotels, predominately in city centre sites in Asia Pacific destinations.

It has acquired two hotels in China – Kunming and Wuxi – and will add a third next month with a yet-to-be-announced property in Xian.

The group has one hotel in Hong Kong and two in Singapore, with a third – Park Hotel Clarke Quay – due to open with 336 rooms in March next year.

Allen Law, director of the Park Hotel Group, said growth had been achieved mainly through acquisitions “so we are excited about our first new-built property at Clarke Quay”.

Law said Japan, where Park had recently acquired a hotel, was a key target for expansion.

He said that at present all hotels were owned and managed by the group but there were plans to offer management services in the future.
