Passenger files lawsuit after witnessing airport worker ‘ingested’ into engine
The tragic case of an airline worker being ‘ingested’ into a jet engine has sparked an airline lawsuit.
A woman who witnessed the incident has filed a lawsuit against the ground handling company Unifi Aviation LLC,
Mackenzie Hill says she witnessed it through the window just after her Delta Air Lines flight touched down at San Antonio International Airport.
She is claiming damages for ‘mental anguish, both past and future; physical impairment in the past; and loss of wage-earning capacity, both future and past.’
Hill says she saw airport worker David Renner being sucked into the engine as the plane taxied to the gate.
It had been classed as suicide according to investigators.
She then closed the window blind and later offered to give a statement.
She has been suffering nightmares and flashbacks, the suit claims.
Renner was said to have been struggling with mental health problems at the time.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed a death by suicide.
Unifi Aviation called the suit meritless and will ‘zealously defend ourselves.’
