Passenger fined for ‘lucky’ coin toss
The airline was Lucky Air but it was anything but for passenger Lu Chao.
First time flyer Lu was ordered to pay a hefty $17,000 fine in yet another coin tossing incident in China.
The 28-year old admitted to throwing coins into the engine of the airplane – a custom unique to China which is aimed at bringing good luck.
It is one of the highest fines yet.
Coins were found on the tarmac near the engine and the flight was then grounded for a full inspection.
The fine was equal to the airline’s costs for cancelling the flight.
It follows a number of other similar incidents over the past few years.
Two elderly first time flyers were caught coin tossing in 2017 including one flying with Lucky Air.
