Passengers injured as plane comes under fire
Two passengers including a young girl were injured when a Flydubai plane came under gun fire as it landed in Baghdad.
Some airlines have since suspended flights to the Iraqi capital.
The Flydubai aircraft was shot at as it approached the airport’s runway, with ‘three or four’ bullets hitting the fuselage.
One passenger Tweeted a picture of what he claimed was a bullet hole next to an armrest.
However, the airline said flight FZ215 managed to land as usual and all passengers disembarked safely. The transport ministry said two passengers sustained only slight injuries.
The no-frills airline, a sister carrier to Emirates, said it was working with Iraqi authorities to investigate the incident.
Flydubai and some other UAE-based airlines, including Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia, have since suspended their flights to Baghdad.
