Passengers injured in Sacramento train crash
More than a dozen passengers are in hospital after two light trains collided in California’s state capital.
A Sacramento Regional Transit light rail train collided with a maintenance train, officials said, with 13 people taken to city hospitals.
A similar number were described as ‘walking wounded’ with minor injuries.
All are thought to be non-life threatening, Capt. Keith Wade of the Sacramento Fire Department said.
The collision took place just west of the Winter Street light rail station.
It caused the passenger train to derail although the rail cars remained upright.
There is no word on why two trains were seemingly on the same track as investigations continue.
