PATA showcases Far East as best value holidays
The Post Office Long Haul Holiday Report 2023 recently revealed the Far East is by far the best value holiday destination.
In fact, seven of the top ten destinations are located in the Pacific Asia region including Hoi An, Vietnam (1), Bali (4), Tokyo (5), Delhi (6), Phuket (7), Penang (9) and Colombo (10).
It was welcomed by the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
“This is very encouraging for PATA and a message we are keen to share with our agent network. It is important they are aware of the value proposition the Far East offers,” said Chris Crampton, Chairman of PATA UK & Ireland.
“Value for money has never been more important as consumers continue to tighten their belts but still desire rewarding holidays. ”
The report suggests ‘a stronger pound means prices have dropped in most of the destinations’.
For the second year running, Hoi An in Vietnam offers the best value, with prices down 19.2% in 2022.
Prices are also down in Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia.
India and Sri Lanka are new entrants to the top 10 list this year.
“It paints a very promising picture for the region, especially ahead of winter as travellers go in search of sunshine.”
PATA points out that travellers can enjoy luxury accommodation at a fraction of the cost compared to Europe and the US.
“Coupled with the Far East’s renowned hospitality, it’s no surprise it’s a popular choice”, said Clare Goss, PATA’s hotel spokesperson and Director of Global Sales, ONYX Hospitality.
“At a time when travellers are seeking value for money and a cheaper cost of living, we expect to see increased numbers ” Crampton added.
