‘Piece of missing MH370’ found
Part of an aircraft that might have come from missing Malaysian Airlines’ flight MH370 has been found on a sandbank in the Mozambique Channel.
The object, which has the words ‘NO STEP’ on it, was found in the same part of the ocean as another piece of debris confirmed to have come from the Boeing 777.
The aircraft went missing en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014 with 239 people onboard.
Sources have said the latest object, discovered by an American who has been blogging about the search for MH370, could have come from the plane’s horizontal stabilizer, which is attached to the tail.
At this stage, investigators who have been sent photographs of the object have only said there is ‘a good chance’ it is from the 777.
Australian investigators have been searching for signs of the missing jet in the southern Indian Ocean, where it is believed to have crashed, but they are expected to close their investigation a few weeks unless they find credible evidence of its whereabouts.
