Piedmont Airlines appoints new president
Regional carrier Piedmont Airlines has announced the appointment of Lyle Hogg as president of the airline.
Hogg takes over at Piedmont, now an American Airlines subsidiary, after serving as vice president of flight operations for US Airways.
"Hogg will report to Piedmont chief executive officer Steve Farrow, who previously held both the CEO and president titles," American said in a statement.
"Farrow plans to retire from Piedmont in early 2016, and today’s announcement is part of Farrow’s leadership succession plan for the regional carrier."
Piedmont was originally a regional unit of US Airways before the American-US Airways merger which is nearing its final phase.
American has earmarked at least 20 Embraer 145 jets for Piedmont to meet demand on its feeder routes.
"Hogg will focus on preparing Piedmont for the induction of the 50-seat jets into its fleet, including working with the Federal Aviation Administration to certify this new aircraft type at Piedmont and leading pilot recruitment for the airline," American said.
