Pilgrim launches British Christian heritage tours for 2014
The history of England is intertwined with the history of the church, and Pilgrim Tours is bringing the two together in two "Best of Britain & Christian Heritage" tours next year.
The tours include religious as well as secular sites in England and Scotland, from Hampton Court Palace, where James I commissioned the King James Version of the Bible in 1604; to Westminster Abbey, where most British Kings and Queens since 1066 have been crowned; to Spurgeon’s Metropolitan Tabernacle, where thousands flocked to the 19th century revival meetings of Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon; to Salisbury cathedral, whose builders claimed it to be "so great a church to the glory of God that those who come after us will think us mad even to have attempted it"; to the Neolithic monument of Stonehenge, which dates back to 2800 BC.
There’s also a visit to St. Andrews, whose Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754, gave the world another source of devotion, the game of golf.
The 10-day tours depart August 12 and September 23, 2014. Prices are $2988 for the August departure and $3098 for September, not including airfare
