Pilot facing triple homicide charges pleads not guilty
The airline pilot charged with a 2015 triple homicide has entered a not guilty plea during a first court appearance.
Christian Martin, 51, was arrested at Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville earlier this month when he signed on for duty for American Airlines subsidiary PSA Airlines.
He is accused of killing Calvin and Pamela Philips and their neighbor, Edward Dansereau.
The killings happened just two weeks before Calvin Philips was due to testify against ex-major Martin in a court martial hearing.
Martin also pleaded not guilty to additional charges of burglary, arson and tampering with evidence.
If found guilty he could face the death penalty.
He remains behind bars without bail until his next court appearance in July.
Martin was led away by police at the airport in front of waiting passengers just prior to piloting a flight from Louisville to Charlotte.
American Airlines says he underwent mandatory background checks prior to employment with the airline which highlighted no red flags.
