Plane crash kills 15
~
Fifteen people were killed when a plane crashed while trying to land at an airport in the north of Nepal.
Six people survived the crash and are being treated at a hospital in the city of Pokhara.
The Agni Air plane hit a hillside after aborting a landing at Jomsom airport, a hub for trekkers and Hindu and Muslim pilgrims.
The Dornier aircraft was carrying 18 passengers – mainly Indian nationals – and three crew members, and had been travelling to Jomsom from the city of Pokhara.
The BBC reported that officials are investigating the cause of the crash, which happened soon after the pilot abandoned efforts to land at Jomsom because of strong winds and was about to fly back to Pokhara.
Police said the weather in the area was fine at the time of the crash.
Last year 19 people were killed when a plane carrying tourists to view Mount Everest crashed outside Kathmandu.
