Budget carrier PLAY Airlines is scrapping all US flights from October 2025.
The decision to exit the North America market comes as it readies for a planned shareholder-led takeover.
It will also delist from the stock market.
It says its future lies in short haul southern European leisure destinations and aircraft leasing.
It flies to the US from Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport.
Major shareholders—CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson and Vice Chairman Elías Skúli Skúlason are leading the takeover of the company and capital restructuring.
When complete it will shift its air operator’s certificate to Malta, but will continue some operations in Iceland with four aircraft based there.
It also revealed that six aircraft will be leased out to other airlines.
