PNG tourism agency launches agent portal
Travel agents in Australia and New Zealand can get the inside track on more effectively selling Papua New Guinea trips, thanks to a new travel trade site offering online training.
The Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority has rolled out www.pngspecialists.com.au designed to offer usual resources and better educate agents.
It features a list of PNG tour operators, updated tourism news, downloadable brochures and training modules.
Labelled as ‘niche with an emerging cruise industry,’ PNG TPA’s Australian and New Zealand representative, Stuart Thompson says the website will help build confidence among agents who were reluctant to push the destination due to lack of information.
"The new PNG trade website addresses this by listing specialist PNG operators in the ‘Tour Operators’ directory under the ‘Toolkit’ tab and agents are able to filter operators by the experiences they offer to find the best fit option for their clients," he said.
"The introduction of the larger cruise ships means that Papua New Guinea is now a destination that every traveller can enjoy, especially those on a budget," he added.
Agents who register on the site get a chance to win a fam trip to Tufi Resort in Oro province.
To be eligible agents must complete training modules by January 10, 2015.
