Police kill hotel robber in Bali
Police from the Gianyar police precinct last week shot dead a thief suspected of repeatedly robbing tourist lodgings in the vicinity of Ubud.
According to Bali Update (www.balidiscovery.com), the 42-year-old man was discovered in the early hours of the morning inside a room at the Putri Ayu Cottage, occupied by a Chinese tourist.
When police attempted to apprehend the man, he allegedly attacked them with a knife.
Police say they fired a warning shot which failed to halt the man’s aggression. He was then hit by a second round, which lodged in the man’s back, Bali Update reported.
Police described the dead man as someone they were seeking in connection with other thefts at the Putri Ayu Cottage and the Hotel Komaneka.
In one robbery the intruder managed to steal cash and two hand phones.
The dead man is also suspected of involvement in thefts in March at the Tegal Sari Bungalows and Aniniraka Bungalows.
