Luxury expedition cruise line Ponant has added the Starlink network, provided by Marlink, boosting guests’ quality Wi-Fi access all around in the world.
This enhanced complimentary service further strengthens the Wi-fi connection on its fleet of ships, even in remote areas.
“Le Commandant Charcot was the first vessel to test Starlink antennas at the geographic North Pole”, explains Benoît Carassou-Maillan, Chief Guest Experience & Product Officer.
“As experts in expedition cruises, this free facility is part of our commitment to provide the best quality service and connectivity anywhere in the world”.
The SpaceX Starlink constellation numbers 6,000 satellites deployed in low-level orbit.
The Starlink network increases the bandwidth available and the geographic coverage of the main VSAT network operated via geostationary satellites.
The entire fleet was fitted with the equipment required during 2023.
