Port Tampa Bay sets passenger record with one million milestone
Port Tampa Bay celebrated a milestone of one million annual cruise passengers for the first time.
It surpassed the one million mark with 1,000,524 passengers ahead of last weekend’s visit of three ships.
The port is served by four cruise lines – Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, HAL and Norwegian.
"This is a fantastic moment for Port Tampa Bay and our cruise line partners," said port CEO Paul Anderson.
The port attributes it partly to 20 additional cruises to Cuba by Carnival Cruise Line.
A Business Research and Economic Advisors study says a 3,000-passnger ship typically generates more than $400,000 in onshore economic activity for local businesses.
