Portman snaps up business travel rival

UK travel management firm Portman Travel has bought Docklands based agency Travelforce for an undisclosed sum.

Portman hopes the deal, its first acquisition since buying John Cory Travel, will help it boost its profile in the City, as well as strengthen its presence in the Thames Valley where it currently has travel management operations in Bracknell, Basingstoke and Aldershot. As well as its Docklands office, Travelforce has an operation based in Reading along with eight corporate implants.

Portman Travel managing director Graham Flack said: “Following the significant industry change in recent years it was clear that consolidation in the sector had to happen, and at Portman we mean to exploit the opportunity that this presents to grow our business, and reinforce our position as the leading independent alternative to the mega-agencies.”
