Post Fiji to sell Pacific Blue tickets
Pacific Blue has announced that Post Fiji outlets will begin selling Pacific Blue flights to and from Fiji from thsi week giving Fiji locals easier access to Pacific Blue’s affordable fares.
Pacific Blue launched flights to Fiji in September 2004 and until now, the only method of purchasing flights was via the Internet using a credit card or from travel agents or Pacific Blue/Air Fiji Ground Handling team members at the airport.
The new arrangement means locals will now be able to visit Post Fiji and book and pay for their Pacific Blue flights to Australia with the option of using cash notes and coins or a credit card.
It’s expected to make the purchase of Pacific Blue flights much easier for the Fiji community, following feedback that many were disadvantaged as they didn’t have use of a credit card or a computer. It will also bring Pacific Blue flights within reach of those living in many of the smaller communities who may not have credit cards or local travel agents and who don’t want to travel up to 200 kilometres by road to Suva or Nadi to book an international flight. They will now be able to visit their local Post Fiji outlet.
The initiative results from Pacific Blue’s commitment to finding innovative solutions for markets that have specific needs.
Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey said, “Internet and credit card use is low in the Fiji region and we are confident our new relationship with Post Fiji will allow more Fijian locals to take advantage of the affordable fares Pacific Blue has to offer.”
He continued, “Pacific Blue is conscious of the need to listen to the needs of our Guests and the Post Fiji arrangement is about increased convenience and being flexible in terms of adjusting our distribution methods to suit Fijian travellers.”
Since Pacific Blue’s entry, the number of people travelling between Fiji and Australia and vice versa has grown by 142,000 passengers, marking an increase of 36%. Pacific Blue currently offers ten direct flights a week from Australia to Fiji.
The airline is working hard to aid tourism recovery following recent political unrest and has launched tourism campaigns, special sales as well as marketing campaigns to entice visitors back to Fiji.
Pacific Blue is also looking at the medium to long term potential of introducing direct flights from Fiji to other destinations as well as increasing capacity on existing markets.
“We have always said we will support the communities that support us and we thank the Fijian community for getting behind Pacific Blue and its quest to provide true competition”.
