Power lunch for the Virgin boys
The Sunshine Coast Daily says that one of the world’s most recognisable faces was turning heads in Noosa yesterday, with Virgin Group airline tycoon Sir Richard Branson making a fleeting visit to the Coast to inspect progress on his Makepeace Island resort in the Noosa River.
Accompanied by his partner in the island development, Virgin Blue CEO Brett Godfrey, Sir Richard was flown over the site by local aviation entrepreneur Grant Kenny, before lunching at Bistro C in Hastings Street.
“He was having a look at the eco-friendly development and having lunch at his favourite restaurant on the Coast before flying to the Gold Coast for the (Virgin Group) V Festival,†Virgin Blue public relations manager Amanda Bolger said.
“It was a very busy weekend for him in Queensland. The night before he attended the Virgin Blue Charity Hangar Ball in Brisbane.
“He does usually visit the Coast about once a year – he’s got a bit of a soft spot for Noosa.â€
So, aside from Ms Bolger revealing that the resort development – being built as a Virgin staff holiday destination – was “progressing wellâ€, further details remain, well, “up in the airâ€.
