Prediction: worldwide meetings on the rise

Monday, 12 Jan, 2006 0

Key indicators show global meetings this year will increase, according to FutureWatch 2006, Meeting Professionals International and American Express.

Client-side planners and intermediaries expect the number of meetings planned by their organizations to grow by 7% and 21% over 2005, says the organization.

Suppliers predict a 10% increase in their own meetings.

Client-side planners also expect a larger share of their organizations’ budgets this year than last year. Forty two percent predicted their budgets will grow as a percentage of the organizations’ total budgets.

Only 8% anticipate having a smaller budget.

Said Colin Rorrie Jr., president and CEO of Meeting Professionals International:

“All FutureWatch 2006 respondents expect to have more frequent, longer and larger meetings this year, suggesting that organizations are increasingly recognizing the value of meetings as strategic business tools that can achieve business goals.”
