Princess Cruises closing Alaska lodge over staff shortage
Princess Cruises will temporarily close down one of its Alaska lodges due to labor shortages.
The Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge will close on June 17, just a few weeks after reopening for the first time in more than two years.
It comes as Alaska’s tourism season kicks in.
Princess operates five lodges in the state.
The lodge is a base for visiting Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, about three hours northeast of Anchorage.
The lodge hosts cruise guests on land tours as well as independent travelers.
“Some businesses have been looking for employees for two years and haven’t found them,” said Kathy Stratton of the Greater Copper Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center
Sister brand Holland America Line cancelled some land tours in Alaska due to acute labor shortages
