Puerto Rico officially ‘Open for Tourism’
Hurricane ravaged Puerto Rico is ready for the upcoming start of the winter season on December 20, insisting it is business as usual.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Company is ready to welcome travelers with more than 100 hotels open and major tourist sites cleaned up and restored.
"It’s been the continued collaboration with Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s team and tourism industry partners that has resulted in tremendous progress and we’re thrilled to be officially open for tourism," said José Izquierdo, executive director of the PRTC.
"Tourism is a vital contributor to the Island’s economy, so reaching these milestones not only will help build a stronger, better Puerto Rico, but showcases the resiliency in our people and destination."
Al airports are fully operational handling about 70 flights a day and the island is expecting 70 cruise ship calls through January 2018 with an estimated 85,000 passengers able to enjoy one of more than 60 shore excursions.
Major sites like Old San Juan, the Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Cueva Ventana are open and welcoming visitors.
The PRTC has a simple message: Puerto Rico is officially ‘Open for Tourism.’
To get this message across the PRTC is launching a holiday-edition video series on the See Puerto Rico social media channels highlighting what is in store for visitors during the holiday season.
It can be found by searching #PuertoRicoAtoZ on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
