Puerto Rico tourism set for a new visitation record
Puerto Rico tourism is on track to end the year with a new record for tourist arrivals.
It expects to close 2022 with a 7% increase in overall visitation compared to 2019.
Puerto Rico will also notch new records in visitor spending and tourism jobs.
This is despite the impact of Hurricane Fiona this Fall.
“Tourism continues to lead the economic resurgence, and we’re setting records,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico.
It is due to successful marketing by Discover Puerto Rico and $50 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Travelers contributed $1.34 billion to the lodging sector, an increase of about 30%.
In October 2022 there were 91,200 jobs in the leisure and hospitality sectors, the highest number in Puerto Rico’s history.
“In just the past three months, we’ve participated in 75 trade shows, roadshows, and promotional activations,” said Dean.
