Qantas adding three new routes from Canberra
Qantas is launching three new routes from the nation’s capital.
It will start flying from Canberra to the Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Hobart, Tasmania starting this month.
The Canberra-Sunshine Coast route will kick off from 19 November.
Two days later it launches flights to Cairns, and then Hobart on 4 December.
They are part of nine new routes recently announced in response to state border restrictions being gradually eased.
"We’ve taken a fresh look at our network, creating new direct services, which were previously only available by connecting via another city, saving customers up to two hours travel time," said Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David.
"These flights are great news for travellers who will now have more direct flights between Canberra and Cairns, Noosa and Hobart."
The federal government recently announced it will allow international flights to and from New Zealand from Hobart from early 2021 as part of an authorised travel bubble.
