Qantas adds capacity as profit outlook maintained

Announcing that it forecasts underlying profits of at least $300 million before tax for the full year to30June, the carrier has flagged capacity increases
A seventh weekly slot from Sydney to Johannesburg from 21 September will be added with the launch of a Tuesday Boeing 747 service.
Its Melbourne to London service will increase to five weekly when it takes delivery of its eighth A380, rising to daily services when Qantas gets its 10th superjumbo by March 2011.
Melbourne to Los Angeles frequencies will rise to four per week with the delivery of its ninth A380 and go six times weekly after the 10th arrives.
Commenting on the move, Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said: “We consider it a priority to increase the frequency of those services when the next tranche of A380s begins arriving from late this year,”.
