Qantas calls on passengers to pay more
SYDNEY – Qantas is lifting ticket prices across its domestic network in a bid to counter the worst profit slump since it was floated in 1995.
Qantas and its regional offshoot QantasLink have increased ticket prices by up to $10 a sector on 14 key routes.
Qantas has made several other increases to its domestic tickets recently but the latest change applies to the most fare classes and routes since the global financial crisis began.
UBS calculates that Qantas has now raised domestic fares by about 7 percent since early September.
A Qantas spokesman said the increase was ”just part of our periodic review of fares”, which had been at their lowest level in years.
