Qantas launching new regional routes
Qantas is launching two new ‘in demand’ routes in the coming weeks.
Starting July 20 the carrier will start a new service from Sydney to food and wine hotspot Orange.
It has just started flying to Ballina Byron Bay from Sydney for the first time in 15 years.
"As the national carrier we have an important role to play in driving tourism and reviving the industry," said QantasLink CEO John Gissing, citing an uptick in regional flight demand.
"These additional flights are coming at the right time for families who’ve spent much of the recent months confined to their homes and are looking forward to getting out and exploring."
"Byron Bay continues to be an incredibly popular destination for holidaymakers, and was one of the most in-demand destinations for Qantas and Jetstar over the past month," Gissing added.
The Ballina route will be serviced by Qantaslink Q400 aircraft, while Q200 aircraft will operate to Orange three times a week.
Jetstar also flies to Ballina from Sydney and Melbourne.
