Qantas revamps frequent flier rewards
Qantas has announced changes to its Frequent Flyer programme in response to what CEO Alan Joyce calls “a very competitive environment”.
The airline also revealed plans to create a new consumer loyalty alliance with telco Optus, with the intention for Optus to join the programme later this year.
The Qantas FF programme will be expanded to enable members more choice on Jetstar flights, including more options to earn points and status credits on all Jetstar fares.
Jetstar has also launched a new fare structure which will see Frequent Flyer members able to earn both points and status credits in Economy and Business on any fare purchase with a “Plus or Max Bundleâ€.
The new “Bundles†– effectively allowing passengers to pay for extras only if they want them- include changes to their flight, seat selection or earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points and status credits.
The Qantas FF program is also increasing the cabin bonus for customers travelling in premium cabins on Qantas flights. The Gold Status points bonus will increase from 50% to 75% and the Silver Status points bonus will increase from 25% to 50%.
Additionally, a new level of VIP recognition will be created for Qantas’s most frequent fliers – Platinum One.
