Qatar heads for Nagpur, Ahmedabad
DOHA – Qatar Airways will launch twice-weekly Doha-Nagpur flights from September 23 and a daily Doha-Ahmedabad service in December using dual-class, 144-seat A320s.
The airline is betting that Nagpur, with a population of more than two million and known for its farming belt and orange-growing, will be India’s next base of technological excellence.
With the new service Qatar Airways will become the only full-service scheduled international airline flying there. Nagpur is also one of India’s largest inland container transport hubs. A new economic zone and airport are being planned in the city.
The new flights will boost QR’s India operations to 51 weekly flights to eight cities, making India the nation with the most destinations in the airline’s network.
Qatar currently operates daily service to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Trivandrum, and Hyderabad.
