Rail sales boosted by new smart tab
Booking UK rail fares from Australia and New Zealand has become easier following an agreement between Amadeus and rail specialist Rail Plus.
A new Amadeus Rail Plus smart tab allows direct access to cheaper, more flexible UK rail fares.
Users of the smart tab have direct access to Rail Plus’ content that allows Amadeus travel agency partners to purchase commissionable UK point-to-point rail tickets for clients at ticket prices up to 80 percent cheaper than before.
Previously, the cheaper and flexible fares were not available to overseas travel agents, which made selling UK point-to-point tickets challenging.
For the first time travel agents in Australia and New Zealand will have access to discounted, local domestic UK fares and will also be able to issue e-vouchers instead of waiting for paper tickets to be couriered.
Sari Vahakoski, managing director of Amadeus Australia and New Zealand, said rail is becoming an integral part of the total trip experience for business and leisure travellers.
Rail Plus offers a range of rail product, including high speed trains and scenic rail journeys as well as point-to-point and rail passes in Asia, Europe and North America.
