Rainforest Expeditions gets carbon neutral
Becomes the first Carbon Neutral operator in the Tambopata region of Peru
Rainforest Expeditions, has just become the first tour operator to offset its carbon emissions in the Tambopata region of Peru’s Lower Amazon.
Rainforest Expeditions teamed up with Regenera to successfully offset emissions for their three eco-lodges, Posada Amazonas, Refugio Amazonas and Tambopata Research Center, as well as all offices and services in Puerto Maldonado.
While the eco-tourism company has a history of protecting the natural environment close to home, this new move seeks to reduce their environmental impact on a global level.
Rainforest Expeditions is now the second client from Unique Latin America’s portfolio of five to become the first carbon neutral operator in their destination.
In 2006, another Unique Latin America client, Ecoventura became the first cruise operator to offset emissions in the Galapagos Islands.
Said Rebeca Espinoza, Director of Unique Latin America "It’s been a pleasure to represent such forward-thinking companies who are constantly evolving and striving to use tourism as a force for good. Just when I thought Rainforest Expeditions couldn’t do anymore, we receive this fantastic news."
