Secures second Green Globe certification with broader eco schemes

A staple frontrunner in sustainability within the UAE’s hospitality industry, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman has broaden its efforts with more ecological initiatives aimed at improving its waste management scheme, and saving water and energy.

The 388-key property has been  awarded the prestigious Green Globe certification for second year in a row, attaining an improved score via the audit conducted by Farnek Middle East, Green Globe’s Preferred Middle East Partner.

Ramada Ajman boasts a remarkable set of sustainable initiatives including the zero landfill project which reduces its landfill waste disposal by 90% and diverts approximately 985,500 kg of waste through recycling and an in-house compost machine. The hotel also has its own urban farm which grows seasonal crops and vegetables, and a reverse osmosis plant for water treatment which recycles the hotel’s waste water by 60 percent. Recently, Ramada Ajman installed a dewaterer (dehydration) and macerator machine to streamline its waste management scheme and save on cost, time and labour.

The hotel has also attained numerous awards and citations, and participated in various conferences in Middle East and Europe to share its sustainable practices.

Iftikhar Hamdani, General Manager, commented, "Green Globe is one of the most coveted certifications in terms of sustainability within the travel and tourism sector, thus, I am very proud of my team for this achievement and for continuously upholding our green goals. The process of tracking our progress had been an elaborate and detailed task, and all the hard work had paid off."

Sandrine Le Biavant, Director of Consultancy, Farnek Middle East, affirmed, "We would like to again commend Ramada Ajman for renewing their Green Globe certification and refining their already impressive sustainability portfolio. The team’s green spirit has always been inspiring, and we look forward to the new ideas that they’ll come up with and execute in coming months."
