Randwick racecourse revamp on track
Tourism Australia was out and about at this week’s EIBTM meetings and events show in Barcelona.
Among the products and facilities being promoted was the AUD150 million dollar upgrade to Sydney’s Royal Randwick racecourse.
The new development will offer 18 bars and lounges and a range of dining options for post-race entertainment.
The existing stands will be replaced with a five-level grandstand housing a selection of function spaces, including a 1,000 seat ballroom.
An adjacent outdoor amphitheatre set in a landscaped concourse will accommodate 4,500 people for concerts and live shows under the stars.
The new events venue will be complemented by a four-star, 170-room hotel with conference facilities and a pool deck with views of the track on one side and the Sydney city skyline on the other.
