Record 1.5 million foreign arrivals for Japan in March
Japan welcomed more than 1.5 million foreign tourists last month – the highest ever for March – amid a surge in Chinese arrivals to view the cherry blossom season.
The Japan National Tourism Organisation said it represented a 45% increase on 2014 aided by the falling Japanese Yen.
More than 330,000 Chinese tourists visited in March, which is up a massive 83.7% from last year, according to the JTO.
Visitors from South Korea and Taiwan also rose significantly the agency said.
